Easy, fast, healthy and low calorie breakfast recipes are my JAM. I actually practice 16:8 intermittent fasting at the time of writing this and 2MAD.

Regardless of my eating plan, a hearty, healthy breakfast is essential.

Better Oats Instant Oatmeal With Flax Seeds is hands down my favorite steel-cut oats brand.

The individual instant oatmeal packets also keep this busy mama of 4 full til I eat my 2nd meal later in the day. Also – definitely research 2MAD if you have no idea what I’m talking about.

This recipe is a great option for you mamas (or papas) who want to start integrating healthy food into your kiddo’s day. There isn’t any sugar added to this packet, so be sure to add natural sugar sources if you’d like to sweeten it up a bit! Because steel cut oats with flax seeds have a nutty taste the following list pairs well and may entice your kiddo to give it a try!

  • Banana
  • Berries
  • Dates
  • Raw Honey
  • Plant-Based Sugar Alternatives
  • Apple / Pear / Nectarine

FAQ: Is Better Oats Steel Cut Instant Oatmeal Healthy?

Yes, Better Oats Steel Cut Instant Oatmeal is very healthy!

I’m not a licensed nutritionist, so be sure to consult a doctor officially for any health related questions.

Generally speaking though, I personally look at a food brand’s ingredients list to make sure there aren’t any additives or things listed that I cannot pronounce.

Ultimately I choose foods that make me feel good about what I’m fueling my body with.

Info: Better Oats Steel Cut Instant Oatmeal Ingredients

  • Whole Grain Steel Cut Oats
  • Flaxseed
  • Stearic Acid
  • Salt

Info: What Is Stearic Acid?

“Stearic acid, also called Octadecanoic Acid, one of the most common long-chain fatty acids, found in combined form in natural animal and vegetable fats.”  SOURCE

So is stearic acid safe to consume? This is something you’ll need to research and decide for yourself. I found this article that explains how stearic acid works with foods.

I highly recommend starting there in your research journey. I personally am good with this ingredient, obviously, ha!
