Designing a cute, simplistic and functional shared bedroom for brothers was the ultimate goal for styling and staging a little’s bedroom. Today I’m sharing this black and white kids bedroom.
It was one of my favorite finished spaces, inside the Cape Cod (investment house that would soon go on the real estate market in Ohio).

A Black and White Kids Room
The inspiration for this entire shared bedroom for brothers was a double set of black and white duvet covers I had picked up at Ikea, back in 2019.
They were in GREAT condition, as my little boys barely used them and having just 6 weeks to renovate an almost 1800 square foot home, top to bottom, meant getting creative with what I already had, in order to stay on budget and on time.
Ikea no longer carries this duvet cover with matching sham, however, I found something really close on Amazon, if you are into the tropical leaves look.
Knowing that my youngest son would want bunk beds in his new bedroom, I started searching for a great quality, twin over twin, bunk bed.
Something I had to also keep in mind however, was the current bedroom my little boys shared, which needed to also be styled a certain way for a potential buyer.
DHP Dorel Living Dylan Twin Wood Bed for Kids, Black Bunk
This amazing bed comes in gray, black and white. I ordered the black one, obviously and am very pleased with the quality. I didn’t really like putting the headboards and footboards together, but thats really my only complaint.
As you can clearly see, I kept the beds separated to show this bedrooms full potential.
MY FAVORITE ROOM IN THE CAPE COD
I love this black and white bedroom SO very much. Selling this investment home was quite challenging, as my family of 6 had to live in it, minimally, during the renovation and selling process.
I’d often find myself sitting in this room when I needed a break and a little solo time to breathe. It helped give me the perseverance to keep going, when I felt like I had run out of steam, patience and hope.
I’m so happy with how to room turned out and my buyer loved it, too!

Onto The Next House: We Bought A 113 Year Old Edwardian
I am honestly still a bit in shock that I pulled this crazy scheme off, of buying my dream home back in my childhood hometown and renovating the cape cod top to bottom, in just 6 weeks in order to buy my dream home. I don’t recommend this AT all, unless absolutely necessary. Ha!
Nonetheless, my family of six and I are completely smitten with our very large victorian home and cannot wait for our next adventure to start.
